The Milner House

The Milner House contains the administrative offices, and Interpretive Centre, Tea Room, and a Library which are open to the public

The House

The Milner House was designed and constructed by A. N. (Alex) Fraser, of Qualicum Construction, for General Noel Money in 1931. It was designed to include features of a Ceylonese tea plantation house as evidenced by the many screened doors leading out into the garden. The size of the house is a surprising 6,500 square feet, including a full basement and attic.

Many renovations and additions to the main house took place after 1954. The present configuration of the house stems from that period and consists of spacious bedrooms with private entrances out into the landscape, a large drawing room and veranda with commanding views of Georgia Strait, sitting room and dining room. An addition was constructed in the 1960’s to serve as Veronica Milner’s painting studio.

Many rooms of the house are open for public viewing including the dining room, sitting room, library and drawing room. Historical photos and artifacts are on display including mementos of visits by members of the Royal Family.

The Milner House is open for viewing during regular garden hours. It is wheelchair accessible, including handicap washrooms. The house is available for rentals – please contact our administration office at 250-752-8573.
